Why we won't print a price chart
Any flat number on the internet is either padded or bait. Real locksmith pricing moves with a handful of concrete factors — and a legitimate shop turns those factors into a firm quote on the phone, before dispatch, for your specific job. The chart is the conversation.
Factor one: the work itself
Opening a locked door, rekeying a cylinder, cutting a key by code, installing hardware, programming a fob — each is a different trade task with different time and tooling. 'Locksmith visit' isn't a product; the task is.
Factor two: hardware grade and condition
A standard residential knob and a high-security or corroded commercial mortise cylinder are different jobs wearing the same name. Grade, keyway, and condition move labor time more than anything else.
Factor three: when and where
After-hours, weekend, and holiday calls carry a stated premium; distance to far-flung addresses can too. Honest shops state both in the quote — not on the invoice.
The protection ritual
Describe the exact door, lock, and problem; ask for the total out-the-door number; confirm the tech honors phone quotes. If the answer is 'starting at' or 'depends what the tech finds,' keep dialing.
